My first time having a go at modelling a weapon. I started with a block out of the gun to get the rough shape and then proceeded to model a high poly version of the gun, which came to around 70,000 polygons. I then duplicated the model and removed edge loops to create a low-poly version, which came to 9,997 polygons.
After the geometry clean up, unwrapping and material ID stage in 3DS Max, I then imported the low poly model into Substance Painter and baked the high poly model detail onto the low poly.
I then textured the model in Substance Painter and imported the model & textures in Unreal Engine 5, ready for rendering.
The model has 9,997 polys.
3DS Max was used for modelling and unwrapping.
Substance painter was used for texturing.
Unreal Engine 5 was used for rendering and 360-degree video.
